Uranus in Taurus (Part II): Stay Calm in This Storm

During this time of Uranus (unpredictable change) in Taurus (structure), the structural breakdown in our world (from the pandemic to riots and political upheaval) also reflects individual change in our outer and inner worlds. As a result of the physical and emotional upheaval of this time, we are meant to change personally. If your personal second house, for example, is Taurus, this is a time to rethink how to relate to material possessions, as well as physical well-being. If Taurus is in your seventh house, it is a time to reconsider relationships. Because this time is like being in a ship battered by storms, we need to remember to breathe to stay calm. Stress activates the oldest part of our brain, which only creates more stress.

Uranus often means sudden change: sometimes surprisingly good news, but often shocking, unsettling events. The last time Uranus was in Taurus, as it is now, was the Great Depression, the rise of Hitler, and the start of World War II. But often positive does arise from shattering Uranus events. Where is Uranus in your chart? If it feels like we're living through earthquakes, it is this time, which often brings sudden realization. The British World War II saying, "Keep Calm and Carry On" fits this time.

Midnight Owl

On a midnight walk tonight, I heard a great horned owl.  I stopped and listened for a repeat.  Silence.
"I'm waiting," I said, not expecting a reply.  But I got one -- almost immediately. "Who Who Who Who Who."
Above silhouettes of trees, stars glimmered suddenly - silver, gold, platinum -- as if the hoot of the owl had animated the night. "Who Who Who Who" it came again, filling me.
I had been walking to clear myself of a difficult two months, filled with inordinate challenges. But I didn't know how much I needed this special gift until I heard the owl.
There are times when some part of nature can lift us beyond ourselves. When I slept outside in the wilderness and woke chilled to the bone, the sight of a sliver of moon could reach beyond the cold and lift me outside of pain. (Reprint of my 4/5/20 post)

Try to Look Up

A hawk landed nearby this morning,  It was so large, I gasped when I saw it. Here in the city, I seldom notice hawks so close, especially one that large.
A woman in a red coat walked by, paused, looked up, but cars passed without noticing. Two more people came by, both seeming downcast, which can happen during these times. Neither looked up.
Scientists "look up" according to Annie Jacobsen, author of Area 51. For example, they look at bats and imagine how they fly. They get their ideas from nature.  Jacobsen incorporated this technique in writing her books, interviewing top research developers and asking the older, original scientists about their first ideas.
According to neurolinguistic theory, looking up can stimulate creative areas of the brain and memory.
Hawk (symbol of discernment, intuition, and our connection to the wild) reminded me of how much we miss when we don't look up.

Astrology: Understanding the Person, Not What You Think Are the Planets

A special friend never let me do his chart.  August birthday. Of course, I knew the year, but not the crucial day, even though we were close. Sometimes I'd think 'He's noticeable like a Leo; vital, charming and stubborn as if he has Taurus planets. He's probably the most honest person I've ever known and clever like engineers I've taught (Virgo).' But his 'outside the box' design mind...what aspects? Something didn't fit.
I wasn't sure if he was sensitive. I didn't understand why he liked to "go within" and hide the way I do. What planets explained his incredible vocabulary and gift of gab, or the similarities between us, even though we were different. Yet I couldn't find anything in the ephemeris* under August of that year to explain this.

Astrology: Understanding Houses and Transits

                                                       Houses:
I need to clarify "houses."The houses indicate where the energy is concentrated in a birth (natal) chart and what is emphasized when a planet transits a house. For example, there is a planet at 27 degrees Sagittarius in the 4th house of my birth chart.
Right now, Saturn is transiting Sagittarius at 27 degrees, which means it is conjunct my natal planet.
Because Saturn is a stern taskmaster, this transit has been severely affecting me. The 4th house is "home," which indicates that this is more apparent at home.
The first house is at 9:00 and the seventh is at 3:00 as if you were looking at a clock. The second house is at 8:00. The last house (the 12th) is at 10:00.*
I hope this helps you figure out your own chart and how transits affect you - by checking in which houses you have planets and which are being transited.

* I hope my next post will be about the 12th house.
