Try to Look Up

A hawk landed nearby this morning,  It was so large, I gasped when I saw it. Here in the city, I seldom notice hawks so close, especially one that large.
A woman in a red coat walked by, paused, looked up, but cars passed without noticing. Two more people came by, both seeming downcast, which can happen during these times. Neither looked up.
Scientists "look up" according to Annie Jacobsen, author of Area 51. For example, they look at bats and imagine how they fly. They get their ideas from nature.  Jacobsen incorporated this technique in writing her books, interviewing top research developers and asking the older, original scientists about their first ideas.
According to neurolinguistic theory, looking up can stimulate creative areas of the brain and memory.
Hawk (symbol of discernment, intuition, and our connection to the wild) reminded me of how much we miss when we don't look up.
